Garmisch

This is the view from our room
For R&R our family traveled down to Garmisch, Germany in the Alps. The food was good and all we had to do to keep the kids happy was to take them swimming! The first full day it snowed large, beautiful flakes all day. Bruce and I put Lincoln and Gideon in daycare on post and put Allen in ski school while we tried our hand at snowboarding. We took some great videos, which will not be posted since they inadvertently got deleted. I was devistated. At least now you can't see me fall on my rear!
We also went sledding as a family. We were told about this cow pasture where all the locals go. When Allen asked where we were going, we told him and he promptly replied, "I don't want to go sledding in a cow pasture!" He was much relieved that he didn't have to sled with the cow pies. Bruce took a great video of Gideon (got deleted also) sledding down the hill, almost taking out a toddler on the way, veering to the left and ending with a crash into the fence. Then you hear an "I'm OK!" At least Heaven has it recorded!
Bruce and I took Allen on a date to the Linderhof Palace, built for King Ludwig of Bavaria. This is his small castle and his favorite that he actually lived in the most. No pictures were allowed to be taken of the inside. Can we say gaudy? Who needs a chandelier carved out of ivory? Everything is gold or silver leafed. His dining room table lowered into the floor to be set up with his meal, then raised so he could eat it! Talk about service!
WE miss Bruce tremendously, but the good news is that the light is at the end of the tunnel! We only have five more months! We are 2/3 the way through.
