Allen's Birthday Surprise

The days at sea were a welcome change to being on the go. I woke up sick and could not get out of bed. My wonderful husband dressed all three boys and took them up to breakfast, dropped Allen and Gideon off at Ocean Adventure, and went on a long walk with Lincoln before bringing me breakfast in bed. I was so grateful. There was only one thing on our agenda for the day: take Allen to the climbing wall. That was the only thing he wanted for his birthday.

Allen proved to be a pretty agile little climber! He had so much fun and Bruce was so proud of him. The spot guys were very impressed with him as well. I guess we know what sport to put him in!

Allen's second climb was on a bit more difficult route up the wall, but he did just fine. We did our usual rituals with Allen and Gideon getting in their homework time, playing ping-pong, going to the library, etc. Bruce and I really appreciated to break we got from sight seeing. At Ocean Adventure Allen got a little birthday party thrown for him. He got an Ocean Adventure backpack filled with goodies from the staff.

We inherited another little monkey when we got back from dinner!

After we picked up Allen from Ocean Adventure we wanted to give him our present to him.

We found this little knight in Rhodes to help him remember to put on the whole armor of God. I couldn't think of a more appropriate gift for someone who was getting ready to make his baptismal covenants. I think he went to bed a very happy boy after such a great birthday.
