I am insanely behind, but will try to catch the highlights of the past few months. Above are the adorable turkey cupcakes that I made for Allen's birthday. I was very proud of my creative moment. I can't take credit for the concept, but thank the lady that shared it with me!
We loaded Allen and his friends into our van and into our friend's suburban and drove up to the gymnastics gym in Rifle where Bruce teaches. We ate Allen's favorite dinner of baked potatoes and then had Miss Smiley from the gym take charge of all the games. Everyone had a blast. It wasn't until the last 5 minutes when the strobe light was on, that we had our only accident. Two kids collided and one had some pretty prominent teeth marks in his forehead as a result. Its a good thing we know a good dentist!
Thanksgiving was a fabulous time here at the Hoggan home! 4 of my 5 sisters and Bruce's brother Joe and his fiancee Becky came to spend the holiday with us. We had one packed house, but the more the merrier! Thanksgiving day was pretty low key and casual. We took the whole day to cook, watch movies, Bruce installed the security system at the clinic with his brother and my brother-in-law. Whatever floated everyone's boat! We ate our dinner at 6:30, followed by pie, followed by pinata.
My parents sent us a turkey pinata since they could not come out with the rest of the crew, and the kids loved it!
We even let the big kids have a whack!
Who knew that a pinata has many uses! It makes a great headdress!
Friday after Thanksgiving, only my sister Emilee and I braved the Black Friday sales, but we ended up with a lot of luck! We got everything but one on our list of buys. Emilee thinks that we should do Black Friday every year out here! It was the calmest shopping experience she has had on this ominous day. Saturday my family had to leave to avoid any snowstorms through the canyon. We enjoyed having them. Lots of movies, noise and no sleep. What a vacation!
I have a rule that no Christmas decorations can go up until after Thanksgiving. So the Sunday after my family left, I dragged out the Christmas supplies. I had 3 great little helpers. Lincoln on more than one occasion has taken the stockings down off their hooks and placed them on his feet. He is so darling, I had to share. We had many things to be grateful for at Thanksgiving. Not only did we have friends and family to be thankful for, but a new home and furniture that was finally being repaired after the move to put in our new home. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We sure did!
