Who knew that an audio tour could be so intriguing?
Salzburg Cathedral
We had a blast in Salzburg with the other Hoggans! John, Tricia, Mikayla, and Damia arrived at our doorstep Sunday afternoon suffering from jet lag, and we were up and going monday. We headed down to Salzburg (three hour drive) without a single potty stop! Amazing! After getting checked in to our incredibly cheap and clean hotel, we drove into town and walked around the marketplatz. We bought our Salzburg card and ended up eating at the same pizzaria that our family ate at a year ago when mom and dad Hoggan came out to visit.
The night in the hotel was rough, as there were no baby cots to use, so Lincoln and I shared a bed. It was a long night at first getting Lincoln settled down and sleeping, then with me worrying about him falling off the bed (which he did). But we were still up and going early the next morning. WE were parked and at the Fortress when it opened at 9. The views are amazing and the kids were kept entertained enough with the audio tour. My boys' favorite was the torture room. Then next favorite event of the morning was the tram ride up and down.
The Salzburg cathedral was next. What is a European city without a castle and a cathedral? The interior was beautiful. I was excited to walk through it and head down the stairs to the catacombs as well.
Lastly, we went to the Salzburg Museum. I had to promise Allen and Gideon that we would return when we left the museum early last year when their grandparents were visiting. They went on a Wolf Detriech hunt throughout the museum. All the kids did such a great job walking and having fun. We rewarded them by forgoeing the Mozart Museum and headed to Garmisch early so they would have time to swim before bed.
