Quick update

Things just never slow down, do they?  Here is a summary of our life in the first month since we have been in the states. 

The last night we were in Germany, there was no room in the Tower Inn, so we booked a hotel in Frankfurt.  This was a huge blessing, as we found out the next day.  We got to the airport early and found that we had no seats booked on the flight that was listed on our itinerary.  Luckily, the lady at the check in counter secured the last 5 seats for us on the flight.  I sat with Allen and Lincoln, and Bruce sat with Gideon about 10 rows back. 

The flight was uneventful.  Allen watched I don't know how many movies, Lincoln stayed dry the whole ten hours (the little stinker is holding out on me) and Gideon stayed pretty happy too.  In Denver our flight was delayed because of a lightening storm, so by the time we boarded the plane, all 3 boys were asleep.  We had some great guys help us out (one was an old missionary companion of Bruce). 

Our family is the greatest.  We had quite a welcome complete with a sign, balloons, and candy.  We gave lots of hugs, then headed to my parents' home to put the kids to sleep and get some shut eye for the early flight we needed to catch to Dallas.  After 4 hours of sleep we headed back to the airport to board our flight to Dallas that went back through Denver (weren't we just here?) and had a layover in New Mexico. 

We made it Dallas, picked up our car, then decided to drive as far as we dare before we stop for the night.  We made it to Amarillo barely.  Ate at IHOP the next morning (YUM!) and headed back on the road.  We drove the rest of the way that day and rolled into Battlement Mesa, CO just before 9. 

We had 2 weeks without the kids, so we thought we would have ample time to put the house together and be well prepared for them to move in.  It would have worked out great, only our household goods were still sitting on the east coast somewhere!  So with all my spare time, I redid the kitchen cabinets.  I will post pictures.  Also during that first week, we had 2 deaths in the family.  An uncle of Bruce's died, then Bruce's stepsibling's father passed away.  We arranged our schedule such to attend both funerals, then go to the family reunion. 

Truth be told, I don't think our boys missed us one bit.  They had so much fun playing with aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents that they didn't have time to think about it.  They went swimming, to the aquarium,  to the zoo, and a host of other places.  We enjoyed the family reunion at Downata Hot Springs, then brought our whole family on back to Colorado to start life. 

The first few days all three boys gathered together for a golf ball hunt in the backyard.  I couldn't believe how many balls they found!  Then, the sat outside waiting for golfers to sell them to.  The made $17 in one day selling the balls at 50 cents a piece.  I think they found a great livelihood.  Their other favorite thing to do is to go play with our neighbor's cute little dogs Joey and Piggy. 

We have some great neighbors and we are enjoying the neighborhood.  We have a lot of stories about our "brand new fixer upper" as we affectionately call it.  One such is our dryer outlet was not even wired into the fuse box!  Good times.  We have big plans for the house that will wait and are forming plans for the landscape, which has to be completed by the end of next summer.  We have to make some money first so that we can afford it!

The dental clinic opens September 7 and it is taking every spare moment Bruce has.  He is pulling some late nights an dis running around crazy trying to get everything together for opening.  He is a hard worker and I am proud of him! Allen and Gideon started school this week, and Lincoln loves having mommy all to himself.  We are headed back out to Utah for a quick trip for my nephew's baptism, then we will just keep on plugging away at life.  Maybe sometime in there I will actually get a living room put together.  We will see!  There you have it!  Our long novel of a life that is missing a lot of entertaining details.  I'm just proud that I am blogging.  Pictures will come soon.  We just need our last shipment form Germany that has our computer in it.  Oh, wait.  That was suppose to be here yesterday.  I wonder where it is?  Probably still stuck on the east coast!
