Pumpkin carving as a family sure was fun! I think I was the most excited to do it. Lincoln was fascinated by the feat of carving and would have done everything on his own if his ability would let him. Allen needed some coaxing to get in there and clean out the pumpkin. Gideon, as you can see, wasn't persuaded to get dirty. He found a better alternative: tongs!
Our neighborhood had a fun Halloween party for the kids. WE all chipped in and donated food and party supplies. The kids had a blast. Allen made a great vampire, Lincoln was a sad froggy (he just didn't want to get in the costume. Once that was on, he just didn't want the hat on!), and Gideon decided that the ghost costume wasn't working too well. IT came off after 5 minutes. He switched the next night and was a ninja for the ward trunk or treat.
The ward trunk or treat was great! IT was a lot of work to pull together, but it all came together in the end. WE feasted on sloppy Joe's and all sorts of side dishes, then shamelessly went around to all the cars 3 or 4 times to load up on all the candy. Lincoln enjoyed that part! WE had so much candy after the neighborhood party and the trunk or treat, we opted out of trick or treating on Halloween Day and instead had our neighbors Tanya and Frank Vila and their boys over for pizza and a movie. The kids all enjoyed answering our door and handing out candy to the German trick or treaters.
