The longest post: the art of catching up

 

So many wonderful things have transpired since my last blogging post.  My silly little guy turned 8 years old! We (Bruce and I) celebrated with him by taking him to the Fruita rec center, then took him out to eat at Pablo's Pizza because they have the same vegan cheese we use at home.  Gideon was so excited to go out to eat and not have to worry about the menu.  Then we enjoyed hosting wonderful family members who came to celebrate Gideon's baptism. We are so proud of him and his decision to be baptised.  We had a lot of fun swimming at the hotel Grandma and Grandpa stayed at and hiking up to Rifle Falls and exploring the caves.  Thanks everyone for a great time!

 

My hard working husband has dutifully attended to the needs of grass seed as we try to get our yard finished.  You wouldn't believe how much water it needs!  Water in the morning, at lunch and in the evening.  The after picture is below.  We still don't know how the story will turn out.  Will the grass grow in come Springtime?

 

My adorable little Lilliann is getting so big and my handsome husband's hair is growing so long. 

 

We started feeding Lilli solid foods.  It took her a few weeks to get used to the texture, but now there is no going back.  She LOVES food.

 

We took the opportunity in the middle of the week to drive up on the Mesa with our good friends Ferd and Valentina Meyer.  We walked around Grand Lake, ate a yummy picnic lunch overlooking 7 other lakes, and took the forest trail around the ranger station.  The views were gorgeous and the leaves were beautiful (though we were a week early to see much red).

 

Here is my honey with his increasingly long hair. This is the night of the Grand Valley High School football team's "loss" though later footage shows that the last pass was in the end zone. I may have a bald husband soon per the deal Bruce made with the seniors.

 

My little Lincoln had to get tubes in his ears to increase his ability to hear.  He heard some sounds

20-30 decibels lower than normal!  While they were at it, his adenoids came out too.  He was a champion and his healing was perfect. 

 

My Little Lilli continues to grow.  She gets so excited when  I put her in her highchair now, but at the same time, she is ecstatic when I sigh "all done" and "out" after finishing her meal.

 

 

We enjoyed a wonderful visit with Bruce's brother and sister in law and their son.  We enjoyed hiking in the Colorado National Monument and driving around the canyon rim.  We have lived here for 2 years and hadn't done any of this.  Family visits are a great way to stop and be a tourist in your own backyard.

 

And last, but not least...our backyard.  The birds kept eating the grass seed, so the metal cans on string were an attempt to scare them away.  It worked, but it also made the neighbors mad!  The grass is still slowly filling in, and with any luck, we won't have to seed three times!

Other big events in our lives:  sending Lincoln to kindergarten, homeschooling Allen and Gideon, grubs eating and killing our front lawn, and buying a bounce house for marketing the office.  That about sums everything up in a nutshell.  We have missed sharing our lives with you all and staying in touch with you all through the Internet.  My early resolution is to update our family more frequently.  Until next time!
