It is fun to look back through our pictures since the beginning of the year and realize we have had some fun moments, I just haven't bothered telling anyone in the blogging world! Here is a brief sketch of how we spend our free time.
We enjoyed the first annual Battlement Mesa sleigh ride at the golf course. There was a huge bonfire to roast marshmallows, face painting, chili and hot chocolate and of course, the horses. Only, we spent too much time around the fire and missed the face painting window. Then we didn't get to ride on the sleigh because something happened to one of the horses, so they closed the rides early. At least the fire was nice and cozy and the chili was scrumptious!
Every Tuesday and Thursday, for an hour and a half, Bruce and Allen have committed to a Tae Kwon Do class. It think both of them are enjoying the challenge it provides. They recently earned their yellow belts! Way to go, guys!
What would life be like for the Hoggan Family without a project? We have a few of those floating around, namely: the basement. Bruce cut through the concrete with a concrete saw and spent multiple days with a jackhammer to bust through it all. Then it was hauling all the concrete chunks up the stairs and put into the trailer to be hauled off, now it is trenching out the dirt so the plumbing lines can be laid for a bathroom. It has been quite the process! Good thing we have a great work crew to help us get the job done!
This is a photographic moment for our family! We are enjoying our Valentine's crepe dinner a few days later than we expected, but the boys still loved them. Who else can say they get chocolate syrup covered crepes for dinner? Of course we had multiple kinds of berries as well, but you couldn't tell underneath all that chocolate!
Lilli's brothers absolutely adore here. They love to hold her, kiss her, teach her new things, and play with her. Gideon and Lincoln are reading her a favorite book in her favorite rocking chair. I love seeing the softer side of my 3 boys!
Just when I am starting to take life too seriously, something happens to lighten me up. I am reminded that it is moments like these that will go down in our family history and bring smiles to our faces for years to come. Life is too short not to laugh!
We love getting together with our friends! We had the Pittman's and the Pettijohn's over for family fun movie night, which is a standing tradition every Friday night. We enjoy having different people over and getting to know them better. We were sad this week to bid our good friends the Pettijohns goodbye as they drove back to their home in Missouri. We will miss them so much! Now we have another place to go vacation when we get an opportunity!
And lastly for now, we are enjoying getting to know sweet Carolyn who lives at the assisted living center here in town. I take the family up occasionally to play games with the seniors and Carolyn is our favorite. She is still far to young at 83 and far to active to live there! We brought her to our home for dinner and a family home evening lesson and tonight she will be our guest for movie night. Our boys love her and I am sure the feeling is mutual!
Our lives are full and rich with blessings from the Lord. I may be a nursing mother of four who is homeschooling and may feel overworked and tired, but my heart is full of joy as I watch our family learn and grow together through daily life. I just need to share all of this more often with you.
