Great way to start out a day: exhausted
First stop of the day: St. Paul's Cathedral
The dome on St. Paul's Cathedral is amazing! The paintings are beautiful and the acoustics are cool. The views are incredible too. We hiked up all 512 stairs to the very top. The boys were troopers. With the exception of getting tired at the very bottom, they did the whole thing without much complaint. Bruce was a trooper as well, acting as a pack animal for Lincoln. He sure did get a work out!
Above are the views from the second level of stairs you climb to the dome.
At the very top of the dome, you peer into the hole and you get a view of all the way down to the first level. Sir Christopher Wren was a genius!
Views from the top of the dome. Beautiful. This is much better than the London Eye!
What goes up, must come down!
Tower Bridge
Watching a ship sail through the bridge
Refreshment break!
We then headed the Tower Bridge and learned about its history and significance. The thing the boys most readily remember was the bus driver that had to jump the bridge because he failed to stop at the red light. The stunt of flying under the bridge was cool to learn about too. The views from the bridge are great and the engine room was a highlight too.
The HMS Belfast was a great stop for the kids. They loved going up and down the ladders and enjoyed the animal hunt set up for the kids. Throughout the ship they have stuffed animals hidden in the different rooms. It gave the boys the motivation to see the whole ship. They really thought the wax figures were weird at first. Lincoln was just down right scared.
Right as we were leaving, Bruce hears some screaming coming from down the hall and he immediately guessed that it was the on board dental clinic, and he was right!
Bruce thought this billboard was great. He purposefully took this picture with it in the background. He thought it would be a good reminder of Europe.
