The Hoggan Family Christmas Tree this year came from a tree farm in Morrisana (a town up the road). Thanks Orly and Thea. You're the best. It is a blue spruce and was the perfect tree. As with all the years we have had a real tree, it had to fall over just for the drama. Gideon and Lincoln were leaning on it the wrong way. Allen and I were working on getting it upright when Allen decided to step on the release lever on the stand....it was all over then. Bruce had to fix it. This happened to be the day that I was having contractions all day and had to go down to the hospital for monitoring. Eventful day!
There is nothing more Christmasy than going to an elementary choir performance. It was cute listening and watching as they all sang their hearts out. Here is my handsome little guy.
This cutie is Baby Tanner as Lincoln affectionately calls him. I have been watching Tanner since he was born. This was my last day with him. It was fun having a baby around again. It helped me remember all the cute and the ugly baby things before ours arrives.
Staff at H-Dentistry. The dude with the long hair is the dentist, if you didn't recognize him. For the record, the long hair is driving him nuts, but when he ways he is doing something, he does it all the way. It will be cut off in July after his Zion's canyoneering trip. He is counting down the days.
Bruce's staff got him a doctor drill and fill made by Playdoh. All three boys had their eyes on it and were just waiting until Bruce had time to open the box and sit down to play with them. Bruce says it wasn't as fun as real dentistry, go figure.
There is nothing that says Christmas time more than making gingerbread houses. In our case, they were graham cracker houses. We used a lot of our left over Halloween candy for this project. It is fun to see the creativity that comes out, and half the fun is eating them after they get all hard and crusty.
On my birthday I got many wonderful gifts. This view out our back window was one of them. The elk converge on the golf course every year we are told. We didn't see them last year. What a wonderful sight. I also got snow on my birthday and some great presents (can we say chair massager while watching the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice?). Perfect.
Christmas this year we stayed at home and enjoyed time as a family. We have not had a Christmas together alone since before Bruce left for Iraq, so it was long over due. Every year the boys get new pajamas to open on Christmas Eve to wear to bed. This year, Allen thought he would try to outsmart Santa by hiding in the living room. It might have worked too, had his younger brother not ratted him out. All three boys slept soundly and did not stir with Santa's noise. They were excited when they woke up to see the loot. My favorite part was that they were more excited about the presents they chose for each other and the ones from extended family members. Church was only one hour on Christmas, then we got to enjoy Christmas dinner (ham) and watched Mickey's Christmas Carol and a Veggie Tales Christmas movie. I loved relaxing and having no agenda.
