Random Hoggan Fun

One night I went out to the garage and got scared to death.  A toad had hopped on inside and probably was as scared as I was.  I tried to scare him out, but scared him into a bucket instead.  It gave me the perfect opportunity though to share him with my boys.  Fascinating.  Watch out, they pee when they are scared.

Allen has found a niche.  He has loved playing U10 soccer this season.  Around here, you have to travel to play other teams, so some games were over 2 hours away.  It was a sacrifice, but it was fun to watch Allen learn and grow.  He would get frustrated at some of the other boys for not listening to the coach or for not staying in position.  He is a type A personality.

We took a quick trip to Denver to get to the temple in October.  Quick because we left Friday night and had to be in Basalt for a soccer game Saturday afternoon.  What we didn't count on was waking up to a freak snowstorm at 6am the next morning.  After the temple, we checked the pictures from the traffic cameras and decided to head out.  It ended up being white knuckle driving all the way up.  We just BARELY made it over Eisenhower Pass.  Once we got over the pass, we breathed a huge sigh of relief.  We would make it home without a tow.  Unfortunately for Allen, he missed his soccer game because of all the traffic and weather.  He was a good sport about it though.  We were just happy to make it home safely.

Yard work has been a huge undertaking since we have moved into our house.  We are given one season to complete our landscape.  In earlier posts, you watched as we had dirt hauled in, rocks hauled in, installed the drip irrigation system, and here we have the fun job of leveling it all out before we laid seed and straw over everything.  Bruce borrowed a four wheeler from a friend and had a lot of fun.  Too bad we didn't get a picture of me surfing behind it standing on the harrow that was attached.

In the fall, it is imperative to fence everything off that you do not want damaged by the deer.  They roam free here in the winter time.  The only fencing allowed in our neighborhood is split rail, but most people don't have them.  So Bruce diligently installed all the fencing around our 21 trees.  The boys helped a little, only I think they had more fun fencing in each other.

The wonders of dry ice.  Our boys had never seen what it can do, so they were absolutely fascinated that it made the juice bubble and cold.  The best part, was the smoke.  They all kept trying to catch it and hold it in their hands.
